Memphis Zoo: Free admission on Tuesday from 2 p.m. to close. for Tennessee residents only. NOTE: There is a $3 Conservation Fee to enter the CHINA exhibit where the Giant Pandas are located. Free Tuesdays will not be held during the month of March.

National Civil Rights Museum: Free on Mondays from 3 p.m. until closing. (Not applicable for tour groups and operators. Not available on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day or Veterans’ Day.)

Peabody Ducks: Every day at 11 a.m., the Peabody's famed ambassadors are led by the Duckmaster down the elevator to the Italian travertine marble fountain in the Peabody Grand Lobby. A red carpet is unrolled and the ducks march through crowds of admiring spectators to the tune of John Philip Sousa's King Cotton March. The ceremony is reversed at 5 p.m., when the ducks retire for the evening to their palace on the roof of the hotel.

Spray Parks, Swimming Pools & Fountains: (Summer Activities)

City of Memphis Aquatic Centers (You must obtain a City Access Card).

Civic Center Plaza: Located right in front of City Hall, the fountains at Civic Center Plaza are almost always on. Each in-ground jet sprays intermittently, providing endless fun for kids (and some adults) as they try to "catch" or avoid each spray. There are no colorful sprayers or water features but that doesn't seem to detract from the fun.

Mud Island Riverwalk: The Mud Island Riverwalk is a scale model of the lower Mississippi River. The bumps and contours are a little rough under bare feet, but the kids don't seem to mind. Best of all, the Riverwalk is part of Mud Island's free exhibits. If you can find a free place to park and walk across the pedestrian bridge, this can be a completely free visit.
