Recently, I was introduced to my newest LOVE: Chocolate Chess Pie!  I had never heard of Chess Pie before (I'm from up North... is it a Southern thing?), but I fell DEEPLY in love with this warm deliciousness!  My friend who baked it said she always makes it fresh the day she plans to serve it and always serves it warm.  Let me tell you, with a scoop of ice cream and a spoon I could definately do damage to that pie!!

Chocolate Chess Pie
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar

  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 (5 ounce) can evaporated milk

  • 1/4 cup melted butter

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
    2. Mix sugar and cocoa together. Beat the eggs then add to the cocoa mixture. Beat in the milk, butter and vanilla.
    3. Pour mixture into 9 inch unbaked pie shell and bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 45 minutes or until set. Let cool before slicing.
