My little fashinoista grabbed these as soon as I opened them from the package. So what are they? High end, high fashion sunglasses? Actually they are safety glasses!!! I was contacted by 3M TEKK to do a phone interview with Meri-K Appy president of Home Safety Council. Look below I am giving away a pair as well!!!
I know there are many do it yourself Memphis Mommy readers out there so I knew this topic would be of great interest to all of us! Doing home repairs and making things yourself will really help cut costs and is alot of fun to do, however safety is very important. Did you know this month, June is
Home Safety Month? The Home Safety Council (HSC) is working to educate and motivate families to take actions that will increase safety in their homes. With money-saving home improvement projects growing in popularity, DIY safety education has become a necessity. During my interview with Meri K here are some tips she shared:
Sh emphasized thinking through the key senses, your eyes, ears mouth, to protect each of your senses.
o Wear goggles, ear plugs, masks, hard hats and safety vests if the directions say to do this. Wear chemical safety glasses when using hazardous solvents and cleaning products. Wear safety glasses with side shields when using power tools.
§ If you allow someone to watch you work, make sure they wear protective gear too.
She recommends the 3M TEKK Protection Brand products, that are high quality, affordable and stylish! Check them out!
We spoke about protecting our lungs anytime we would be exposed to fumes. 3M TEKK has a variety of masks from disposable to multi-use masks. These are only $2.49 so they are very affordable and are great for light sweeping, sawing, sanding and mowing, they have a 95% efficiency to remove particles and are free of rubber latex.
We also spoke about the importance of protecting your hearing. This product is amazing as not only does it protect your ears from loud noise you can enjoy your favorite tunes (which yes it has a built in volume level it won't go above). My husband would love these!!! They retail for $49.99, not bad at all in my opinion.

o Oily rags can self-combust. Hang them outside to dry. Then throw them away in a metal can with a lid.
o Keep children out of your work area.
o Do not wear any loose or dangling clothing or jewelry that could become caught in moving parts.
o Keep your work area clean and free from clutter.
o Keep power equipment in good condition. Repair or replace damaged tools.
o Use heavy duty extension cords for tools such as trimmers and edgers that are listed by a testing laboratory such as ETL or UL for outdoor use.
o Unplug the power cord before you do any trouble-shooting on a tool that is jammed or won't start.
o Never walk away from a plugged-in-power tool, even for a few minutes.
o Follow basic ladder safety rules whenever climbing.

MWalker- I would wear these while cutting wood to help build a deck for a family member...
G Wrenn- I would love to get a pair of these. My house is a "fixer-upper" so there is still a lot of work to be done.
J. Westrich - We are getting our house ready to sell hopefully in the spring. I would wear these while cutting tile for a our kitchen... eek!!! :) Thank you for the giveaway!
We go to the Chili Bowl car races in Tulsa every January. It is on an inside dirt track. Mask and earplugs are often used by many, and we need to do that ourselves. The glasses would also add much needed protection because often the dirt is thrown on you, and the fumes from the cars are very strong.
JJohnson. I would wear them when playing with my kids to avoid getting poked in the eye!
J Williams. For my baathroom renovation.
