Mom's Tip and Recipe

Wanted to share with you my favorite CHOCOLATE CAKE RECIPE idea, my wonderful hubby made this for me yesterday for Mother's day, if you seriously love chocolate this is the cake idea for you.

You will need:

  • Your favorite brand Devil Food Cake mix (and ingredients to add to it)
  • Nutella 1/4 cup
  • Ferrero Rocher-8 pieces
  • Nestle Cocoa Powder (recipe for frosting on back and below)
Using a food processor crush the Ferrero Rocher candy put half in the cake batter
Make the frosting:
"PERFECTLY CHOCOLATE" CHOCOLATE FROSTING: Melt 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter or margarine; stir in 2/3 cup HERSHEY'S Cocoa. Add 3 cups powdered sugar alternately with 1/3 cup milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract beating to spreading consistency. About 2 cups frosting.
Add the remaining Ferro Rocher crushed pieces and the 1/4 cup of Nutella

I do have a recipe for making it from scratch, but I think the box mix tastes just as good, top this with fresh raspberries and you are in for a real treat.

Mom's Kitchen Tip: when you have to measure a sticky ingredient like Nutella, honey, syrup, peanut butter etc. simply spray your measuring cup lightly with cook spray and this will prevent a messy sticky residue in your measuring cup!

Saving's Tip:

Ferrero Rocher is a bit pricey but they usually go at least half-off after holidays (after Christmas, Valentine's and Easter) so plan ahead and stock up
