The Horses Are Coming! The Horses Are Coming!
Chicago had painted cows. Cincinnati had painted pigs. Norfolk had mermaids and Tampa had turtles. New Orleans had A Festival of Fins, and Charlotte had Chairs on Parade. Nashville and Cleveland had guitars. Belzoni, MS, the catfish capital, had catfish! Athens, GA said, "We Let The Dawgs Out" with dogs. New Mexico has The Trail of The Painted Ponies, which has diversified into a big business. Lexington and Louisville, Ocala and Saratoga are few of the other cities who have featured horses.

So with a wonderful horse heritage and a charity horse show that is known far and wide, Germantown, Tennessee, celebrated the Germantown Charity Horse Show's 60th Anniversary in 2008 with a 21 Horse Salute. The painted horses were placed in public in June, and remained there until October 2008 when they were corralled for a big party and auction. The Buyer will keep the painted horse with 10% of the purchase price going to the artist, 45% of the purchase price went to Germantown Charity Horse Show, and the other 45% donated to the charity of the buyer's choice.
