The Memphis Zoo was ranked the number one Zoo in the country on tripadvisor.com.

The Zoo is all a buzz this spring about the opening of its special exhibit — Birds & Bees. At first impression, it may sound like a biology lesson. Instead, this seasonal exhibit is designed to highlight the current struggles facing North American honeybees and provide an interactive experience in an outdoor aviary. Birds & Bees takes up residence in both the old Spider and Butterfly exhibits.
If you were a big fan of our butterfly friends, don’t fret — we’re planting a butterfly garden to surround the building. The bee exhibit will feature an up- close look at two busy bee hives. Inside the exhibit, visitors can examine what makes bees special and the role they play in agriculture. The indoor bee exhibit segues almost seamlessly into the outdoor aviary that features approximately 500 budgies, commonly known as parakeets. In addition to viewing these beautiful birds, a keeper will offer opportunities to feed the birds by selling $1 seed branches.

Best of all, there will be no separate charge to enter the Birds & Bees exhibit. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Come and see these winged wonders take flight this spring. It’s just another great reason to be a Memphis Zoo member.
